“I assure you that if you believe and do not doubt, you will be able to do what I have done to this fig tree. And not only this, but you will even be able to say to this hill, ‘get up and throw yourself in the sea, and it will”.
Jesus himself staked His reputation on the power of “believe” in Matthew 21:21.
Overtime I’ve gone around trying to find out how great men become great and more often than not I hear them say they believed in their dreams, some would say they believed in themselves, some would say they believe and trust in God.
What is “Believe”?
Believe is to accept that (something) is true, especially without proof. Another word for believe is faith and the Bible in Hebrews 11:1 describes Faith as the substance of things we hope for and the evidence of things not seen. Meaning, for instance, for me to become the first civilian man to walk on mars then believing in the possibilities of my dreams to become reality is key for me to then see my self as what i dream i am or can be and this believe whether i’m intentional about it or not would influence my thoughts and then produce actions which would then result in the reality i’ve first imagined.
Jesus says, “I assure you that if you believe and do not doubt” and so i ask myself, “What then has been holding me back? My doubts? Do i possess enough believe in whom i say i am? Or who i say i can be?
Jesus stakes His reputation on the power of believe. For anything you desire in life you must first believe in the possibility of it’s reality and this believe is what opens you up to it.
Believe keeps you on the go even when it doesn’t make sense to anyone that you keep going, even when your dreams make absolutely no sense to anyone, believe opens your eyes to opportunities and possibilities no one else sees, believe keeps you focused, believe fuels your spirit even when your body is tired, believe really is the only reason for anything you can see in the world today. Surely just no great man became great without believe. Believe shapes your ethics which then forms your lifestyle. Believe keeps you disciplined enough to do whatever it takes.
My question to you today is who/what do you believe you are, who do you believe you can be? Do you really believe you can become what you dream of or does it just sound nice to you? What’s your believe hooked on?
If Jesus staked His reputation on the principle of believe then i too stake my life on it and it’s efficacy.
Whatever you have to do? Just do it! This principle doesn’t care if you’re a Christian or Muslim, righteous or not. Even atheists have built really great things and when asked how, the answer always boils down to Believe.
Jesus says, “I assure you that if you believe and do not doubt, you will be able to do what i have done to this fig tree”, and if Jesus could use words to cause a fig tree to dry up, how impossible do you think your dream or anything is?
Believe in your dreams, believe in yourself, believe in the power of God to make those dreams a reality, believe in it before anyone else believes in it, see it even when they don’t. Believe really is key to producing anything you can see today.
