SCRIBBLES FROM THE BIBLE: THE SHEPHERD TO THE SHEEP

Psalms 23:1

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.

The key to all of my needs is the realization, acceptance and consciousness of God as my shepherd.

If God owns me and I know this and accept it then I should be able to rest in the assurance that at every point in my life I have all I need for what he wants to make off me. So my first worry isn’t how to get resources but making something out of whatever he has given, to start with, and when it’s time for more He’ll release more so I can do more.

Psalms 23:2

He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.

I don’t know what I need, He does. So I should give lots of room for His leading, and when I give room for His leading, He leads me into what I’m truly needing at every point in time.

Notice how that passage didn’t say; “He follows me” or “He’s with me”? That’s because He leads me to what I need per time, if rest is what I need then He leads me to it, if food is what I need then He leads me to it.
In other words, he takes away every worry so I can just focus on being a sheep and being useful for what He wants me to be or what He wants to make out of me.

What I want and what I need may be conflicting but if my intention is for Him to lead and for me to be everything he wants me to be, then the resources around me is a good pointer to how he wants me to move and what he wants me to be doing per time. So I can pen down my big dreams and the visions he has put in my mind but understand that when it’s time for the next step or the next move he leads me into resources for it. He teaches me how to make resources.

Psalms 23:3

He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths,
as he has promised.

I can trust and know that if I’m lacking faith or strength to keep going he’ll renew my strength. If I’m lacking guidance and wisdom on how to manipulate and overcome situations that may arise as I move according to His will and leading, he’ll provide wisdom and guidance and He does it because He is faithful to His word that He’ll never fail me.

I can trust in Him and know that He is faithful enough to keep His words, guide me to where I need to be, lead me how I need to move. I can be sure that he is in control at all times and he does it all because he is faithful to his word and because I carry his name.

Psalms 23:4

Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
for you are with me.
Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me.

Even if it appears as though the whole world is against me, fighting me, misunderstanding me, all I have to do as a sheep is keep being a sheep, trusting that my shepherd’s rod and staff will be working 24 hours, 7 days to make sure that I’m well protected and kept. He’ll ward off evil from me and also with his rod, redirect me when I’m going wrong.

So I am not afraid that the systems of this world might fight me. My assurance is that when they rise up to fight me I don’t need to focus on them, I need to focus on going on because The Shepherd is actively always fighting for me.

Psalms 23:5

You prepare a banquet for me,
where all my enemies can see me;
you welcome me as an honored guest
and fill my cup to the brim.

And when it is time for me to be honoured and be fulfilled, I can be sure that it won’t be a silent occasion because my Shepherd will honour me in front of the naysayers and non-believers.

When it is my season to be blessed, when it is my season to be lifted, my season to be announced, The Lord will not do anything small that it cannot make a statement of his faithfulness to me. He gives me a testimony so loud I can’t hide it. He blesses me in such a way that my enemies can see it and marvel at his power.

Even if I’m in an industry with a lot of competition, he’ll honour me above them because I’ve walked faithfully with Him. Because He is satisfied with my journey and is sure He can trust me

Psalms 23:6

I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;
and your house will be my home as long as I live.

There is an assurance in me that as long as I live and my trust is in The Shepherd, and I’m moving as He leads, I can rest knowing fully well that all things are working together for my good because He loves me with an everlasting love and where He is is where I’ll always be because He’ll never let me get out of His sight.

I just have to trust the Shepherd.
